«Botvinov and Friends»: Elena Bashkirova

Pianists Elena Bashkirova and Alexey Botvinov present a carefully curated program featuring both well-known and rarely performed masterpieces for four hands and solo.

Bashkirova comes from a long line of musicians. Born in Moscow, she began her studies at the age of 15 in the class of her father, the legendary piano pedagogue Dmitry Bashkirov. Together with violinist Gidon Kremer, with whom she also regularly performed as a duo and made several recordings, she left the Soviet Union in 1978 and settled in Paris. Elena Bashkirova's artistic development was particularly shaped by her collaborations with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Sergiu Celibidache, and Michael Gielen. She has lived in Berlin with her husband, Daniel Barenboim, since 1992.
