Daniel Hope Week (postponed)

With Mendelssohn's string octet, Daniel Hope's week finds its brilliant climax and conclusion. It is a work by the only sixteen-year-old Mendelssohn, who founded a new genre in his instrumentation for eight strings and composed music full of brilliant melodic ideas.
