Baritone Matthias Goerne, a unique voice of our time, will perform Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise (“Winter Journey”) together with Ukrainian pianist Alexey Botvinov.
With a voice renowned for its beauty and flexibility, Goerne is ranked among the world’s leading singers. He possesses flawless vocal technique and interpretive depth, and thanks to the wide range of his voice, he can perform both the high repertoire of contemporary music and the low repertoire of the Baroque era. Nevertheless, what brought him worldwide fame is his interpretation of German art songs.
Schubert’s Winterreise, undoubtedly the greatest masterpiece of the German song repertoire, is today considered a benchmark when performed by Goerne.
